Annual Update Of Medical Tables Of Costs 2 December

WorkCover Queensland has reviewed and updated the tables of costs for medical treatment and supplementary services applicable for workers' compensation in Queensland. The changes are effective 1 December 2024 and reflect the maximum fees payable by insurers.

The Medical Benefits Schedule (MBS) item numbers, explanations, definitions, rules, and conditions for services provided by medical practitioners have been adopted as they apply for work-related injuries.

The updated tables of costs and fees, including supplementary services provided by general practitioners and specialists, are available under Fees on our website.

Updated files for self-insurers and practice management software are also available.

There may be further amendments to item numbers and/or fees after 1 December 2024. Please refer to our Fees page as we will endeavour to update the tables of costs as quickly as possible, should this occur.

Summary of key changes:

  • Revised formatting of both GP and Specialist Supplementary tables of costs with clearer descriptors including clarification of report billing for IME and PI assessments
  • Addition of a new item code 'Report review and response' to support the provision of information after reviewing a medical report supplied by the insurer
  • Addition of GP mental health treatment consultation item codes 2713, 92115 and 92127.
