Councillor Anthony Brophy was elected as Deputy Mayor for Greater Shepparton City Council at today's Additional Council Meeting.
This will be Cr Brophy's second term as Deputy Mayor having previously served in 2021/2022. He will hold the position for the remainder of the current 12 month term.
In his Deputy Mayor address, Cr Brophy said he looked forward to serving in the position once again and supporting the community as it continued to work through its recovery from the October floods.
"I'm deeply honoured and privileged for this opportunity and I look forward to supporting the Mayor and our Councillors. We are acutely aware of the struggles, the challenges and the aspirations of those in Greater Shepparton," he said.
"There is a positive vibe in the air in Greater Shepparton. Events are taking place, people are visiting and infrastructure projects are well underway.
"But we have not forgotten the devastating impact of the flood event from a few months ago. A strong economy and critical services returning paves the way to bring those who were affected through to the other side."
