A jubilant Central Queenslander man has committed to buying his wife "any diamond ring she wants, a big rock" after winning big in the weekend's Saturday Gold Lotto $20 million Superdraw.
The Yeppoon local was one of the 21 lucky Australians to score a division one prize in the draw on July 27, 2024. Each winner takes home about $1 million ($950,000).
“I just won Gold Lotto?! Are you serious?!” the man cried when a lotto official confirmed his prize.
“I’m f***ing shaking!
“Punch me, I’m dreaming!
“You’ve got the best job in the world. You don’t know how much this changes our lives. It’s unbelievable!
“I don’t know what to do or say!
“It just sets us up! This sort of thing doesn’t happen to people like me and my wife. Usually, just when you feel like you’re getting ahead, something comes along and you’re knocked back a bit.
“I can’t believe it!
“I’m going to give my wife any diamond ring she wants. She’s going to get a big rock!
“We’ll also share the prize with our kids and pay off the mortgage.
“You wouldn’t believe how much this means to us.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4489 on 27 July 2024 were 4, 37, 45, 27, 11 and 20, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 10.
