Anzac Day Road Closures At Sunshine Coast

Ahead of ANZAC Day dawn services and main services across the Sunshine Coast District on April 25, police are reminding all road users of a number of upcoming road closures, and to plan their travel accordingly.

There are 25 events planned across the Sunshine Coast, with small isolated road closures associated with those events.

With large crowds expected to attend services across the state, police will be present at the public events to maintain safety and traffic control.

Motorists can expect delays and traffic congestion around commemorative sites, but are reminded that times are only indicative and police will reopen roads once deemed safe.

Road closures will impact parts of Caloundra, Beerwah, Mudjimba, Cotton Tree, Maleny, Glasshouse Mountains, Nambour, Mooloolaba Coolum, Mapleton and Yandina. A comprehensive list of local road closures can be found on the Sunshine Coast Council website.

Sunshine Coast District Officer Superintendent Craig Hawkins urged residents to be patient and respectful.

"We're vigilant about looking for behaviours that might be troublesome, and we also encourage the community that if there are areas of concern to bring them to the attention of police."

Sunshine Coast Police would like to encourage the public to act responsibly when commemorating Anzac Day, respecting the nature of the occasion.
