The Queensland Police Service would like to apologise for the publication of wrong information included in a media release in relation to a serious traffic crash at Birkdale that occurred yesterday morning, January 20.
Initial information received indicated that an 80-year-old man involved in the incident had passed away in hospital later that day.
That information has since been shown to be incorrect, and the media release has since been removed.
The 80-year-old man remains in the Princess Alexandra Hospital receiving treatment.
Officers have since been in contact with the family of the man and have apologised for the publication and the distress caused by it.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
