Appeal After Assault In Auburn

Police are appealing for help to identify an elderly victim and witnesses following an alleged assault in the Auburn area.

About 2.10pm on Saturday (8 June 2024), police were told a woman, aged in her 70s or 80s, was walking along Woodburn Road, Berala when she was allegedly hit by a man, causing her to fall to the ground.

The alleged victim left the scene before police arrived on scene.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command began investigating and arrested a 38-year-old man at Berala Railway Station about 11.30am on Sunday (9 June 2024).

He was charged with affray and was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday (10 June 2024) where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 19 June 2024.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to the woman or anyone who witnessed the alleged assault.
