Police are appealing for information after a group of men impersonating police officers engaged in illegal pursuits and stopped drivers in Sydney's northwest overnight.
About 1.30am (Thursday 20 May 2021), a silver Holden Commodore approached a silver Kia Rio driven by a 20-year-old woman on Carlisle Avenue, Bidwill.
The Commodore drove aggressively behind the Kia before activating red and blue lights. The Kia stopped on Carlisle Avenue, Hebersham and the woman was directed to exit the car.
The woman immediately drove away upon realising the men in the car were not police officers.
About 20 minutes later, the Commodore drove aggressively behind a car on Carlisle Avenue, Mt Druitt before activating blue and red lights. The 31-year-old driver stopped his car on Luxford Road and the Commodore pulled up directly next to him.
The driver noticed the occupants in the car wearing dark-coloured clothing with hooded jumpers and masks covering their faces.
The driver saw the back passenger holding a knife and another man in the car with a handgun.
The Commodore drove off after witnesses came out of a nearby house.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for information that may assist with ongoing investigations.
