Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to help identify two offenders for the serious injury assault of two men in St Kilda on 22 April, 2023.
It is understood the victims walked past the men on Chapel Street, who were standing next to a white Holden Commodore sedan, parked on the corner of Dickens Street, about 11pm.
One of the men yelled out to the victims who ignored him as they continued to walk north on Chapel Street.
Shortly after, one of the victim's has turned around and seen the two men running up behind them.
Police were told a victim was punched to the face by a blonde man, before he instantly fell backwards onto the footpath and lost consciousness.
The second victim was punched several times to the face and body by a man with dark hair, while he yelled that they didn't want to fight.
The offenders then retreated and left the area in a white Toyota single-cab HiLux utility with a silver tray.
The first victim, a 35-year-old St Kilda man who was rendered unconscious, was hospitalised with serious injuries which turned life-threatening.
The second victim, a 35-year-old St Kilda man, was conveyed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The first offender is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 180cm tall, with a blonde mullet and aged in his mid to late twenties.
The second offender is described as having olive skin, dark hair and was shorter in statue. He was also believed to be aged in his mid to late twenties.
Both men were wearing white tops at the time.
Detectives believe the offenders may have attended a 'fight-night' at the town hall on Carlisle Street prior to the assault.
Investigators have released an image of a similar vehicle to the white Toyota HiLux ute driven by the offenders.
