Two police officers remain in hospital receiving treatment following an incident in Kangaroo Flat last night, Victoria Police say.
Bendigo Highway Patrol officers intercepted a car on the Calder Freeway about 6.20pm following reports of a blue Honda Civic driving erratically in the area throughout the day.
Officers attempted to arrest the male driver, who allegedly became hostile, before a struggle ensued with both the driver and a female passenger.
Police used a Taser to subdue the female after she refused to surrender.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly tried to speed off while a male police officer was inside the car.
The leading senior constable managed to get out of the car and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A female constable, who was allegedly hit by the car, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The vehicle then continued southbound along the Calder Freeway before coming to a stop near Fogartys Gap Road.
Police arrested the driver, a 36-year-old man from Broadmeadows.
He remains in police custody, assisting investigators with their enquiries.
The passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Broadmeadows, was taken to hospital for observation under police guard.
She remains in custody at the local police station, assisting police with their enquiries.
Police are appealing for public help and in particular would like to speak to anyone who may have observed the driving behaviour of a blue Honda Civic in the Bendigo area yesterday.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
