Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce it will shortly open its Local Heritage Fund grants for the 2023/2024 period.
The grant aims to provide financial assistance to owners of heritage listed properties or residences in Heritage Conservation Areas for conservations projects, maintenance works or building code upgrades.
The Local Heritage Fund allows applicants to receive up to $2000, and opens for applications on Monday 1 July 2024.
Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal is encouraging owners of heritage listed items to take advantage of this support and submit an application.
"These grants not only provide heritage listed owners with a kick start to complete updates, but they are also a fantastic opportunity to help preserve our local history for future generations," said Clr Suvaal.
"Preserving our heritage is a responsibility we all share, and the Local Heritage Fund represents a commitment to safeguarding our community's historical legacy."
Applications for funding close at 5pm Friday 6 September 2024 and must include all necessary supporting documentation.
Two drop-in sessions to assist with applications will be held on Tuesday 6 August from 9am-11am and 5pm-7pm at Council's administration building.
Projects involving new building or new addition to a heritage building, routine maintenance and new commemorative monuments or works are ineligible to receive funding under the grant program.
