Campaspe Shire Council is finalising orders for next year's Street Tree Planting program which will see new trees planted in streets, parks and gardens across the municipality.
Acting General Manager Infrastructure, Daniel Basham said applications are open until the end of October, allowing time for orders to be placed, received, and then scheduled for planting between May to August next year.
"Applications capture requests for a new street tree, replacement of an existing tree, or removal and replacement of a tree," Mr Basham said.
"For new trees, residents are asked to help with the initial care and watering of the tree, particularly in the first year while the tree gets established."
Applications are assessed by Council's Arboriculture Officer taking into account a number of factors, including:
- Neighbourhood character
- Height of the tree species
- Local conditions and climate
To obtain a street tree, lodge an online request through Council's website.
