Bass Coast landowners looking to improve their land management practices can now apply for the 2025/26 Rural Land Management Program (RLMP). The rebate program provides financial incentives to support sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
This year, the application process has been updated to align with Council's other grant programs. Landowners are encouraged to check each year in March for application openings, as direct notifications will no longer be sent via mail, email, or SMS. If you've applied in the past or recently purchased rural land, now is the time to check your eligibility and apply before 31 May 2025.
New this year, we've also introduced an interactive map to make it easier to check if your property is eligible
The program supports a range of projects that improve environmental sustainability and agricultural productivity, including:
- Controlling and eradicating weeds
- Protecting and enhancing remnant vegetation
- Preventing and reversing soil erosion
- Protecting waterways and undertaking revegetation
- Pest animal control
- Control and reversing soil salinity.
Who can apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a landowner or ratepayer in Bass Coast Shire
- Own at least 4 hectares of rural land that is either:
- Zoned Farming or Rural Living under the Bass Coast Planning Scheme, OR
- Meets the definition of 'Farmland' under the Valuation of Land Act 1960
Approved applicants receive the rebate upfront on their rates notice before works are carried out, helping to offset costs for land management improvements.
