Event organisers, community groups and sporting clubs can now apply for up to $5,000 through Swan Hill Rural City Council's grants programs.
Applications for the Community Development Fund and Events Support Fund opened today.
Mayor Ann Young said funding from the annual programs had the potential to make a huge difference to not-for-profit groups and to their local communities.
"Last year, we provided $70,000 in funding to support 37 local events including Voyage Riverside Tri, Nyah District Christmas Carnival, Manangatang Cup, Lake Boga Yacht Regatta, Woorinen Winter Solstice Festival right and Robinvale Euston Ski 80.
"We also contributed $100,000 towards 25 community projects like new air-conditioning systems, netball court and cricket pitch upgrades, irrigation systems, water tanks and new access ramps.
"I look forward to seeing the applications that come in this year."
