Applications are now open for the Tasmanian Government's $10 million Density Incentive Grant Scheme to turbocharge the construction of additional homes across Tasmania.
The scheme offers grants of $10,000 per dwelling for developers building eligible medium or high-density housing projects.
Minister for Housing, Planning and Consumer Affairs, Felix Ellis, said our Government is taking strong action to get homes built across the board.
"We've recently announced our plans to expand the Urban Growth Boundary around greater Hobart to unlock land for almost 10,000 homes, but we're also investing heavily in medium and high-density developments to ensure we're delivering homes across the housing spectrum," Minister Ellis said.
"The Density Incentive Grant Scheme will accelerate shovel-ready projects around the state by directly supporting developers to bring more housing options to market.
"By incentivising medium and high-density development, we're expanding housing choice and availability across Tasmania, meaning more Tasmanians - whether they're students, young families, or retirees - can find a home that suits their needs.
"With the opening of this program, we are continuing to deliver on our commitment to build more homes faster under our Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future."
The grants are available for developments with a minimum of three new dwellings and up to a maximum of 50 dwellings in designated planning zones that support higher-density housing within Tasmanian communities.
