Appointment Of Department Of Justice Secretary

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government has appointed Ms Kristy Bourne as Secretary of the Department of Justice.

Ms Bourne has been Acting Secretary for several months after serving as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Justice since November 2017.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, congratulated Ms Bourne on her appointment.

"Ms Bourne is recognised as an effective, values-based leader with a passion for the Justice and Corrections sectors and broad operational knowledge," the Attorney-General said.

"Her detailed working knowledge of the Department of Justice, and the challenges and opportunities facing it, mean she is well positioned to be a strong leader in the years ahead.

"I am looking forward to continuing to work with Ms Bourne to ensure Tasmanians' access to justice, whether that's through continuous improvement of our business as usual, enhancing our legislative framework, or driving the delivery of our major projects such as the new Burnie Court complex and the Astria digital solution.

"On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I congratulate Ms Bourne on her appointment to this important position.

"Through our Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are continuing to improve our legal system and the critical institutions which uphold justice in Tasmania."
