Appointment Of New Director Of Prisons

Narelle Pamplin has been appointed as the Director of Prisons of the Tasmania Prison Service.

Minister for Corrections and Rehabilitation, Madeleine Ogilvie, congratulated Ms Pamplin on her appointment to the leadership role.

"Narelle is known for being an effective and values-based leader, with a strong passion for rehabilitation, a key part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future," Minister Ogilvie said.

"Narelle's experience with mental health, adolescent services, and high-risk offender management makes her well-suited for the diverse needs of the Tasmania Prison Service.

"I extend my thanks to Acting Director David Jackson for serving in the role with dedication and professionalism for the past eight months."

Tasmanian-born, Narelle started her career in the State as a Counsellor with the Department of Education and later worked for Relationships Australia.

In 2008, and since 2016, Narelle has worked on the mainland for NT Community Corrections, Queensland Health, and for the ACT Corrective Services, where she currently serves as an Assistant Commissioner.

Ms Pamplin will commence her new role on 12 May 2025.
