Shoalhaven City Council is pleased to advise that the reconstruction of the old timber bridge over Crookhaven River along Culburra Road Pyree will commence under a design and construct contract. The contractor is Kenpass Pty Ltd an experienced bridge builder who has completed other works across the Local Government Area. For many years the old timber bridge has had load limitations and on-going maintenance issues.
The construction cost is $806,000 with a total project cost of over $900,000. RMS has contributed a grant of $396,000 towards the cost of this work.
The contractor will submit bridge construction plans for approval and then commence the work. Construction is anticipated to commence around July 2019 and be completed over 20 weeks and before year's end. Construction will be all concrete and time savings will be achieved by using pre-fabricated bridge beams and decking.
Shoalhaven City Council is mindful of how important this main arterial road is for connecting the community and will ensure traffic management will allow for one lane of traffic flow throughout construction. Drivers are reminded that traffic will be managed by portable traffic lights and to adhere to speed restrictions during this time.
Please note that all quoted completion dates are subject to change due to weather conditions, emergencies or other unforeseen interruptions.
