ARENA Board Appointments

The Australian Government has announced appointments to the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) board.

  • Justin Punch is re-appointed as chair for his third term. He brings experience as an environmental investor with a focus on climate and energy investments.
  • Elizabeth O'Leary will continue on the board for her second term. Ms O'Leary is a Senior Managing Director at Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) Real Assets. Her work involves measuring, reducing, and removing greenhouse gas emissions across farming operations.
  • Ruby Heard is new to the board. Ms Heard is an electrical engineer and founding director of Alinga Energy Consulting. She is the first Indigenous and regionally located member on the ARENA board.
  • Dr Dean Travers is new to the board. Dr Travers is an energy sector strategist. He has developed conventional and renewable energy projects across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia.

Since its inception in 2012, ARENA has allocated over $2.6 billion in grant funding. The funding has helped deliver nearly $12.5 billion in investment in Australia's renewable energy sector.

The agency continues to be a cornerstone in Australia's push towards a sustainable energy future.
