Armed crime squad investigate Cranbourne East home invasion

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are investigating after a firearm was discharged during an aggravated burglary in Cranbourne East early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Scotsdale Drive to reports three offenders forced their way into the home armed with a firearm and machete about 2.15am.

An 18-year-old Cranbourne East man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being assaulted with an edged weapon.

A 45-year-old Cranbourne East woman was also taken to hospital with minor assault-related injuries.

Six other victims, including a teenager and two children were present at the time and were unharmed.

The offenders fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Detectives are investigating whether parties may be known to each other.
