Firearms have been produced during a robbery in Sydney's southwest early this morning.
About 1.02am (Tuesday 24 September 2024), officers from Burwood Police Area Command responded to reports of an armed robbery at a hotel on the corner of Canterbury Road and Tincombe Street, Canterbury.
Police were informed that two men wearing dark clothing, face coverings and gloves – one armed with a shotgun and the other with a pistol - entered the hotel and threatened staff and patrons.
An amount of cash was stolen from the premises before the men fled the scene in an easterly direction on foot.
During the incident, a 38-year-old security guard suffered minor injuries.
Officers established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police.
Inquires have established that shortly before the incident a vehicle – not further described - was seen to drive the wrong way down Tincombe Street before stopping in Minter Street.
