Firearms have been produced during a robbery in Sydney's southwest early this morning.
About 1.45am (Friday 18 October 2024), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command responded to reports of an armed robbery at a hotel on the corner of Anderson Avenue and Braesmere Road at Panania.
Police were informed that two men wearing dark clothing, face coverings and gloves – one armed with a shotgun and the other with a pistol - entered the hotel and threatened staff and patrons.
An amount of cash was stolen from the premises before the men fled the scene in a black 4WD and a black Holden Commodore sedan.
A security guard was punched in the face during the robbery.
There were no other reports of injuries to staff or patrons of the hotel during the incident.
Officers established a crime scene that will be examined by specialist police.
