Police have taken a 33-year-old man into custody after a street disturbance in Victoria Point where he was allegedly seen carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
Just before 2.30pm, officers found the man on Colburn Avenue and after a brief interaction he was taken into custody without incident.
It will be alleged the man was carrying a firearm at the time of his arrest, and his conduct with that item before police arrived is subject to investigation.
He is currently being medically assessed and remains under police guard in hospital.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw the man, or who may have footage from the area at the time, to contact them.
Investigations are continuing.
