A man has been charged after a vehicle was allegedly stolen at gunpoint from an address in Sunnybank Hills overnight, Queensland Police say.
Shortly after 9.10pm, police were called to an address on Aratula Street following reports that a man had entered a house.
It will be further alleged that the man entered the house and produced a firearm before making demands from a woman inside for her car keys.
The woman has complied, and the man then allegedly fled the scene in the vehicle.
An off duty police officer located the vehicle a short time later and was able to contact police and direct crews to Wallaroo Road in Doolandella shortly before 9.30pm.
As a result of the excellent police work, a man was taken safely into custody at the scene without incident
It will be alleged that a search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded sawn off shot gun and an axe.
A 29-year-old Yeronga man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter dwelling with intent, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving would a licence, and possession of explosives (ammunition).
He is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today.
