Arrest Made in Alice Springs Aggravated Robbery 6 January

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 41-year-old man in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred on Friday evening in Alice Springs.

Around 8.10pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of a burglary occurring at a supermarket on Hearne Place in Braitling.

The offender had allegedly entered the store, collected items in a shopping basket and left without paying. Two security guards approached the offender, who discarded the items and fled.

The offender subsequently returned a short time later, allegedly armed with a blunt weapon, and threatened the security guards before stealing an item and fleeing from the scene.

Operation Ludlow members attended and located the offender, who allegedly swung the blunt weapon at a member but did not make contact. The offender was subsequently arrested, and Strike Force Viper members took carriage of the investigation.

The 41-year-old has since been charged with Aggravated robbery, Assault a worker, Armed with an offensive weapon, and Shoplifting. He is due to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.
