Arrest Made in Alice Springs Indecent Assault Case

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 14-year-old male in relation to an indecent assault that occurred in Alice Springs last year.

Earlier last month, DNA taken from the male in relation to alleged property offending in December 2024 returned a positive match to forensics taken from the indecent assault in July 2024.

The 14-year-old was located and arrested without incident yesterday at a residence in Grevillea Drive, Sadadeen.

He was charged with Gross Indecency without consent, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, and Damage to Property, and has been remanded to appear in court today.

Acting Commander Drew Slape said "This was a traumatic attack for the victim and the offender will face court for his actions.

"Crime scene forensics is a crucial branch of police work, working hand in hand with our detectives and frontline members to ensure where evidence exists, we will take action and prosecute criminals.

"Police will continue working tirelessly to identify and arrest offenders, no matter how long ago a crime was committed."
