Arrest Made in Tennant Creek Domestic Violence, Fire

Northern Territory Police have responded to a domestic violence incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning in Tennant Creek.

Around 2.30am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of a structure fire at a residential premises in Tennant Creek.

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the structure fire, as well as a vehicle fire located in the yard of the residence. Police can confirm no persons were inside the structure or the vehicle at the time of the fires.

A crime scene was established, and subsequent investigations identified that both fires were allegedly deliberately lit in relation to a domestic violence incident. Police identified a female victim who was allegedly assaulted by her partner.

Police located and arrested the 31-year-old male offender a short time later. He is expected to be charged later today and investigations are ongoing.

The victim was conveyed to Tennant Creek Hospital to receive treatment for injuries to her head.
