Arrests Made for Property Offences in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths in relation to property offences that occurred in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 2.30am, police were notified of three offenders allegedly attempting to unlawfully enter a residence on Clarke Street in Araluen.

Police responded and the offenders allegedly discarded alcohol stolen from the residence and fled the scene. Two male offenders aged 13 and 17 were apprehended and arrested after a short foot chase. The remaining offender is still outstanding.

The 17-year-old is expected to be charged later today, and the 13-year-old was conveyed home into the care of a responsible adult.

Around 4.30am, police received a report that a business on Elders Street was allegedly being broken into. Up to four offenders allegedly rammed the front gate and gained entry into the premises before stealing a number of sets of car keys and two vehicles.

Members from Strike Force Viper, the Dog Operations Unit (DOU) and general duties officers responded and quickly recovered one of the stolen vehicles on Montgomery Road. The DOU tracked the alleged offender, a 14-year-old male, and arrested him.

The second vehicle and offenders remain outstanding.

The 14-year-old is expected to be charged with a number of offences in relation to this incident later today.
