Arrests Made for Unlawful Entry in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested two males in relation to an unlawful entry in Alice Springs on Saturday.

At around 5.15pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of intruders at a residence on Nelson Terrace in Araluen. The premises was unoccupied at the time of the alleged offending.

Police responded and observed two offenders fleeing the area. After a short foot chase, two male offenders aged 16 and 18 were arrested and taken into custody. An amount of stolen cash was allegedly found in the possession of the 16-year-old.

The 16-year-old has been charged with Burglary, Theft, Damage to Property and Possess House Breaking Implement, and will appear in court on 5 September.

The 18-year-old has been charged with Burglary, Theft, Damage to Property and Possess House Breaking Implement, Fail to Furnish Name and Address, and Possess Schedule 2 Less than Trafficable Quantity. He was remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on 13 August.

Strike Force Viper Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leigh Yates said, "I want to commend the work of our police officers who arrived at the residence swiftly and were able to quickly apprehend the alleged offenders.

"I want to ensure the community that police are working hard to target and combat property crime, and will ensure those who perpetrate such offending will be put before the courts to face the consequences of their actions."
