Arrests Made in Alice Springs Burglary Attempt 28 January

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested three male youths in relation to an attempted burglary that occurred in Alice Springs early yesterday morning.

Around 12.15am, police received reports that a group of unknown offenders were attempting to gain access to a commercial premises in The Gap.

The offenders were allegedly using a power tool to access the rear of the premises, and a subsequent review of CCTV established six offenders were involved.

Several police units responded, and the offenders fled on foot. General duties members apprehended two offenders, one of which was allegedly in possession of a battery-operated power tool.

Strike Force Viper members conducted further enquiries, resulting in the arrest of an additional offender.

The three male offenders, aged 14, 15, and 16, have since been charged with Attempted aggravated burglary and Damage to property. The 14 and 16-year-olds will appear in court today and the 15-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act (2005).
