Two people have been arrested following an aggravated burglary and subsequent theft of a car in Balwyn North this morning.
Local police and police dedicated to Operation Trinity were called to a property on Musca Street, Balwyn North about 4.30am.
It's alleged three men entered the home before stealing keys to an Audi station wagon.
The Audi was stolen from the driveway of the home and left in convoy with a white Volkswagen Tiguan.
The three residents of the house were asleep and not disturbed at the time.
Police observed the stolen Audi on Burke Road, Balwyn and followed it, with the assistance of the police Air Wing, to an address in Lynbrook.
One of the men ran from the stolen Audi into the address in Lynbrook.
Police arrested a 17-year-old boy from the Casey area and a 23-year-old man from Lynbrook.
The pair remain in police custody.
A third person, and the white Volkswagen Tiguan, remain outstanding.
Victoria Police has been specifically targeting burglars and car thieves each night since March 2023.
Operation Trinity, which runs from dusk until dawn across Melbourne is easily Victoria Police's most well-resourced frontline policing operation at present.
Since March 2023, there has been 70 additional police including Dog Squad, Public Order Response and Air Wing rostered each night, on top of existing patrols.
