Arson And Explosives Squad Investigate Sydenham Fire

Arson and Explosives Squad detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding a fire in Sydenham that has left three children with life threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called to the Fergus Court scene following reports a loud bang was heard in the area and reports of the fire on Sunday 8 September about 9.40pm.

Three young children, all believed to be aged five and under, were rescued from the home before being provided immediate medical care.

The children have all been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The area has been cordoned off and a crime scene established.

Detectives and an arson chemist will attend the scene this morning.

No one else was injured in the fire with investigators working to determine if anyone else was present in the home at the time or just prior to the fire.
