Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Gleneagle man in relation to four suspicious building fires on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane in October.
The warrant is the culmination of significant investigations into a series of tobacconist arsons across Gold Coast, South Brisbane and North Brisbane police districts.
Police will allege the man deliberately lit fires at tobacconist businesses in James Street, Burleigh Heads and Cotlew Street, Ashmore on October 11, Elizabeth Street, Acacia Ridge on October 25 and at Wickham Terrace, Spring Hill on October 30.
The 34-year-old man is currently in custody in New South Wales for separate, unrelated offences.
These New South Wales matters will be dealt with prior to any application for the man to be returned to Queensland.
