The exciting redevelopment of the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery is progressing at full speed, with demolition works set to proceed next week despite the Melbourne Cup public holiday.

On Tuesday 5 November, contractors will be on-site to carry out essential demolition activities, marking a significant milestone in the gallery's transformation.

Swan Hill Rural City Council's Gallery Director, Ian Tully, highlighted that the works will continue as planned to maintain momentum on the highly anticipated project.

"The redevelopment is entering an important phase, and while Melbourne Cup Day is a public holiday, we've ensured that progress continues. The demolition works scheduled for the day are crucial in setting the stage for the gallery's new design," Mr Tully said.

This stage of the project paves the way for the next steps in creating a modern, engaging space for both the local community and visitors. Recently released architectural renders of the redevelopment offer a glimpse of the gallery's future that will provide upgraded exhibition areas, enhanced public spaces, and improved visitor amenities.

"The gallery's new look will provide a vibrant and welcoming space for artists and art enthusiasts alike.

"We're excited to see this transformation unfold and to create a state-of-the-art venue that will serve our community for many years to come," Mr Tully said.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about any updates or changes to the works and to exercise caution around the gallery area during construction, especially on Melbourne Cup Day.
