An exhibition highlighting the Pittsworth Art Group's connection to the land and how it has inspired their creative output will be showcased in Land of Plenty.
The exhibition will be displayed at Crows Nest Gallery from February 8 to March 5, 2023.
Land of Plenty is a celebration of the rich and fertile soils surrounding Pittsworth and the wider Toowoomba Region, which has allowed agricultural production to thrive for generations.
The exhibition is comprised of works that depict each artist's interpretation of the theme and highlights their individuality, which is as diverse as nature itself.
Participating Pittsworth Art Group artists strive to convey the beauty that they perceive symbolises their beloved home.
The Pittsworth Art Group provides a friendly, creative atmosphere where members can develop, learn, share, and enjoy their creative pursuits.
Established in 1990, the 45-strong group includes six founding members.
"The Toowoomba and greater South East Queensland area was originally built on its rich and fertile soils that supported farming operations," Pittsworth Art Group member Liisa Gosper said.
"Pittsworth remains a bustling supply centre for the surrounding agricultural industry.
"As many of the Group members have spent their lives working on the land, it seems only natural to propose a celebration of the bountiful foundation that has allowed the broader Toowoomba Region to prosper, grow and diversify, with an exhibition aptly titled, Land of Plenty."
The exhibition's Artist Talk is on Sunday, February 19 at 11am.
This is a free event and no bookings are required.
