ARTC Great Train Race Takes Place at Hunter Valley Steamfest

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) have once again partnered up with Maitland City Council to celebrate Maitland's steam and industrial heritage at the Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest.

After cancellations since 2020 due to Covid-19 and flooding, Steamfest is back and better than ever for its 35th anniversary, with the festivities to be held over the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April at the Maitland Station Precinct and surrounds.

A must-see event of the weekend will be the ARTC Great Train Race quad run which will feature four historic steam locomotives running parallel together whilst racing a classic Tiger Moth airplane.

Attendees can also explore an impressive collection of antique machinery and steam trains from across Australia, plus live music, kids' activities, market stalls and more.
