Artisans, Growers Market Arrives at Casula Powerhouse

Liverpool's Growers and Foodies Market, now known as Powerhouse Artisans and Growers Market has a new home.

From Saturday 2 November 2024, the weekly markets will be located in the grounds of the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.

Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun said this was a real win-win for the markets and Council and also gives an opportunity for market goers to visit the Arts Centre and view what's on exhibition.

"The markets have been operating for nearly 30 years, starting at Warwick Farm Racecourse and then moving to Chipping Norton.

"The next stage of its life will be in the Arts Centre precinct, where there is plenty of parking, great facilities and easy access to public transport.

"The market is ingrained in our local history, and this will both ensure its continuation and reap mutual benefits by providing support to grow the markets into a strong offering for our local community.

"I'm sure marketgoers will enjoy wandering through the Arts Centre and taking advantage of all it offers, whether it be the latest exhibition and entertainment or dining at Bellbird Restaurant.

Stall holders Nora Sadler and James Vo welcomed the move and say they are looking forward to the opportunities the new venue will bring for the markets.

"We are really excited to have found such a wonderful space for the markets, which have been part of Liverpool's daily life for nearly a quarter of a century," they said.

"The move to Casula Powerhouse is a great outcome for the markets and we have a positive vision for what the future will bring."

The market's first week at CPAC will offer more than 30 stallholders with products ranging from fresh produce (eggs, a Scottish butcher, seasonal vegetables, jams, biscuits and the like) to food stalls, dog treats, African jewellery, flowers, and German pastries.
