The City of Greater Bendigo is inviting local artists and creatives to submit an expression of interest for a new program Eat. Drink. Art.
The program will provide opportunities for local creatives to exhibit their art in local cafes and restaurants.
The program will be launched during Bendigo Art Gallery's Frida Kahlo: In her own image exhibition which opens next March.
If selected, artists will need to include one signature piece that relates to the theme of 'Fiesta Bendigo' alongside other original works.
Successful applicants will have artworks on exhibition in selected local businesses from Saturday March 15, 2025, until Monday May 12, 2025.
Creative City Officer Mandy Field said the program was an opportunity for artists to exhibit artworks in public settings during the Gallery's international blockbuster exhibition when art lovers will be drawn to Greater Bendigo.
"The program gives local artists the chance to increase their profile, exposure, and the opportunity to generate sales.
"Bendigo is a UNESCO Creative City and Region of Gastronomy, and involving local eateries aligns the Eat. Drink. Art. program with the UNESCO brand.
"Greater Bendigo continues to build a strong reputation for its public art, street art and thriving arts and creative industries."
Eat. Drink. Art. is aligned with the Council Plan Mir wimbul 2021-2025 and its commitment to create a vibrant creative community, activate spaces, provide support for talent and champion inclusion and access for creatives.
The successful artists will be notified at the end of January and work will be installed between March 10 and March 14, 2025.
Installation and removal of the artwork, sales enquiries and insurance will be the responsibility of participating artists.
The expression of interest closes 5pm on Monday January 20, 2025.
