Arts And Culture Strategy Adopted

Murray River Council

Murray River Council has adopted its first ever Arts and Culture Strategy, following a 28-day exhibition period.

The strategy was developed following consultation with the community, along with local arts and culture group.

Mayor, Cr Frank Crawley said the strategy provides clear direction on the Council's role in supporting local arts and cultural activities.

"Alongside our community we've looked at how we can build upon the existing strengths of our arts and cultural programs and boost the profile of creative industries across the area."

"Partnerships will lie at the heart of our approach over the next ten-years, and we will work with local groups and outside agencies to ensure we can address various elements such as cultural planning and infrastructure, heritage preservation, public arts, festivals and events."

The focus areas of the strategy are growth and sustainability in the art sector, industry involvement, community involvement and heritage and environment.

The adopted Arts and Culture Strategy can be viewed on council's website.
