- $40 million project adding permanent classroom accommodation for 350 students
- Construction scheduled to begin in March 2025
- Part of WA Labor Government's record education infrastructure investment
The Cook Labor Government has announced construction will soon commence on a $40 million redevelopment at Ashdale Secondary College which will deliver a contemporary learning environment for more than 2,000 secondary students.
Construction is scheduled to start in March next year, with the state-of-the-art facilities to be delivered in stages. The new two-storey block is anticipated to be completed late 2026 and the design and technology block is scheduled for completion in mid-2026.
The building project at the northern suburbs school includes a new two-storey specialist teaching block with science laboratories, information technology classrooms, a digital design learning area, a STEM laboratory, food technology studios and training spaces.
An adjacent single-storey building will house design and technology workshops for the delivery of jewellery and metalwork classes, while the visual arts and design and technology spaces within the existing school buildings will be refurbished.
This project is part of the WA Labor Government's record $4.8 billion education infrastructure investment that is being delivered across the State.
Comments attributed to Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:
"We are currently seeing remarkable population growth across our State, including in the northern suburbs, so it is important we keep pace by providing excellent local schools.
"This redevelopment will deliver first-class facilities for students, not just to foster academic achievement, but to ensure that vocational education is also front and centre.
"Additionally, these facilities have been designed to be able to be shared with the local community. They will be a fantastic addition to the local community for decades to come."
As stated by Landsdale MLA Margaret Quirk:
"It is terrific to see this very important school upgrade progress and that both the Minister and Premier have listened to the needs of our community.
"This is something for which I have strongly advocated, so I am thrilled to be able to support the delivery of this for local families."
