Ashurst Guides Sosteneo in Richborough Park Refinance

Global law firm Ashurst has advised Sosteneo on the refinancing of the 100MW Richborough Energy Park Battery Energy Storage System.

Richborough Energy Park has been operational for almost a year - boosting the capacity and flexibility of the network, helping balance the system and providing critical grid stability services – with a capability to power 250,000 homes for an hour and manage the intermittency of renewable generation across the network.

The project is located at the repurposed site of the former Richborough Power Station in Kent and is part of a broader energy campus including the connection points for the 1GW Nemo interconnector with Belgium, the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm and Sosteneo's own 249MW Sheaf Energy Park, which is currently under construction.

The Ashurst team was led by partner Katie Williams, supported by senior associates Alice Rosenshaw and Anthony Gray, and associates Ali Clift and Jessica Nelson.
