Investigators are appealing for information after a man was allegedly assaulted and robbed while he slept in his vehicle at Goonellabah in December last year.
Police have been told that a 59-year-old man was awoken in his car when an unknown male and female approached about 5.30am on Sunday 11 December 2022.
The man was then allegedly assaulted and robbed of belongings including his wallet, phone and car keys.
A bystander transported the man to Lismore Base Hospital where he received treatment for facial injuries sustained during the assault.
A short time later, the unknown male accompanied by another man returned to the location before allegedly stealing the man's vehicle.
Later that day, the car was located destroyed by fire on Hayes Street, Goonellabah.
As inquiries continue, investigators from Richmond Police District have released images of two people who might be able to assist with the investigation.
The first male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 20s, of solid build, wearing a black hoodie with writing, cream coloured shorts, black baseball cap, and white sneakers, with tattoos on his right shin.
The other is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged in his early 20s, of thin build, with short black hair and facial hair, wearing a black Adidas t-shirt with white stripes on the sleeves, long black pants and black/grey sneakers.
