Police have charged two teenage girls following an alleged assault and robbery while travelling on a bus in Redlynch last night, July 9.
It will be alleged shortly after 5pm, the group was vaping on board a bus on Kamerunga Road when a passenger reported them to the driver.
The passenger, a 37-year-old Trinity Beach woman, was allegedly assaulted by the teens and sustained minor injuries.
The bus driver, a 53-year-old Cairns woman, also sustained minor injuries.
She was transported to Cairns Hospital for treatment.
It will be alleged the group stole a sum of cash from the bus coin tray before leaving the scene on foot.
Police located four teenage girls in Caravonica a short time later.
Upon arrest, it will be further alleged a 13-year-old girl spat on a police officer.
A 13-year-old girl has been charged with one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm, serious assault public officer, serious assault police officer and stealing.
She is expected to appear at Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
A second 13-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
Two 15-year-old girls were released without charge.
Investigations are continuing.
