Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources Geoffrey R. Pyatt will travel to Singapore October 21-23 for Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW). He will meet with regional and global energy ministers and join a series of panels and roundtable discussions on low carbon technologies and the role of the private sector in Southeast Asia's energy security and clean energy transition. Assistant Secretary Pyatt will also attend the Singapore-International Renewable Energy Agency High-Level Forum to discuss clean energy financing.
Assistant Secretary Pyatt will also join International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Dr. Fatih Birol to mark the historic opening of the first IEA office outside of its Paris headquarters in the organization's 50-year history, and to launch the IEA Southeast Asia Energy Outlook. ENR has championed from the start the IEA's increased focus on Asia as a source of energy demand, production, and transition.
Assistant Secretary Pyatt's discussions will highlight the United States' partnership with Southeast Asia and the private sector in the energy transition, including in diversifying and expanding clean energy supply chains, supporting greater regional connectivity, leveraging the technology leadership of U.S. companies, leveraging U.S. energy abundance to advance energy security, and fulfilling corporate demand for clean energy.
