Atlantic hydrogen industry in the Netherlands to promote region as a leader in the global clean energy transition
Atlantic Canada is poised to become a world-leading producer and exporter of clean hydrogen. The region's experience in energy production, world class energy resources, deep-water ports, and proximity to U.S. and European markets, ideally position it to be a global leader. The region has the competitive advantage to support the global energy transition and the region's capacities represent new good paying green jobs and clean energy market opportunities for Atlantic Canadians.
This week, 48 of Atlantic Canada's major project developers, supply chain firms, regional utilities, port officials, industry associations, communities and provincial partners are participating in the World Hydrogen 2024 Summit & Exhibition (World Hydrogen 2024) in Rotterdam, Netherlands. While in Rotterdam, the Atlantic Canadian delegation will showcase to the world the region's significant assets - in particular, its experience in energy production, access to high and consistent winds, deep-water ports, and proximity to US and European markets, as well as Atlantic Canadian companies' abilities to lead the global transition to clean energy.
As the world's major markets are moving quickly to fight climate change, retool their economies, and build the net-zero industries of tomorrow, support for the Atlantic Canada delegation to the World Hydrogen Summit further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to helping Canadians, businesses, and communities adapt, while making life more affordable on the track to net-zero.
