Attempted armed robbery charges at Newtown

Police have charged a 30-year-old Charleville man following an alleged attempted armed robbery in Newtown on Saturday (March 4).

At approximately 7.45pm, police will allege a man entered a Bridge Street convenience store armed with a knife.

It is alleged the man confronted a male attendant, before leaving the scene on foot, empty handed.

No one was physically injured.

Investigations lead detectives to arrest a 30-year-old Charleville man today at Newtown.

He has been charged with one count of attempted armed robbery and is expected to appear before Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow (Wednesday March 8).
