Two people have been charged following investigations into an arson incident in which a man suffered burns to his body in Bucasia overnight, Queensland Police say.
At 11.30pm, police responded to reports a duplex on Fisher Street was well alight. Officers were advised a man had attended the address just prior to the fire and had claimed to be a police officer.
A 42-year-old man, the occupant of the unit, was located with burns to his upper body and facial injuries.
It is alleged the 42-year-old was set alight by a man who entered the unit, and subsequently, the fire spread to the dwelling. He was transported to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening burns.
No-one else was physically injured.
A 47-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, assume designation of police officer, enter dwelling, assault occasioning bodily harm and arson. He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm and arson.
Investigations are continuing.
