A woman has been charged with attempted murder after the serious assault and stabbing of an elderly woman at Ashbury.
About 10.45am yesterday (Wednesday 2 January 2019), emergency services were called to attend an address on Holden Street, Ashbury, after the activation of a body worn panic button at the address.
A 92-year-old woman was located at the rear of the premises, bleeding heavily from her scalp and abdomen.
She was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious condition and underwent surgery for trauma to her face and body, as well as several stab wounds.
Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries into the incident.
A crime scene was established which has been examined by forensic specialists.
Following inquiries, about 12.30pm the same day, a 35-year-old woman was arrested after a vehicle stop on Griffin Parade, Illawong.
She was taken to Sutherland Police Station, where she was charged with attempted murder and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Thursday 3 January 2019), however is currently at Sutherland Hospital being treated for an ankle injury.
Police allege the woman was working as a cleaner in the victim's home.
