Attempted Vehicle Theft Offences, Thuringowa Central

Detectives attached to Operation Whiskey Legion in Townsville have charged a 13-year-old boy following two incidents that occurred yesterday, September 13.

It will be alleged that police were called to a Riverway Drive service station at Thuringowa Central just after 8pm following reports of a disturbance.

Upon arrival officers located the 13-year-old boy, and he was taken into custody a short time later.

It will be further alleged that the boy was involved in multiple attempted car thefts at a Hervey Range Road shopping centre a few hours earlier, however no one was physically injured.

He has since been charged with four counts of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of serious assault police.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court today, September 14.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with relevant information is urged to come forward.
