Audition to be part of Rockhampton Regional Council's musical RENT
If you would like to be part of Rockhampton Regional Council's 2025 musical RENT, this is your chance.
Auditions are now open. There are eight principal roles (three female, five male), along with an ensemble.
RENT is the multi-Tony award inning musical by acclaimed composer Jonathan Larson.
Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Rent has become a pop culture phenomenon, with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Rockhampton's production of RENT will be directed by Amanda Hock, with Musical Director Stephanie Quinlan, Vocal Director Daena Walton, Choreographer Patrick Lilleboe and Costume Coordinator Susan Earle.
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities, Culture and Heritage spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson encouraged local performers to take part.
"Council's annual community musicals are a great opportunity not only for local performers to hone their craft but also for residents and visitors in the audience to experience a top quality show.
"Those who have been involved in previous musicals tell me that it is a very worthwhile and fulfilling experience," he said.
"I urge anyone interested to submit an audition application," he said.
Auditions will be held on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November, with dance auditions scheduled for 4 November. Rehearsals will commence in mid January. Auditionees much be 16 years of age or over as at the first rehearsal in January.

RENT will open at the Pilbeam Theatre on Friday 21 March 2025 for five performances. Tickets will go on sale shortly.
