Aurizon's Community Giving Fund extends its reach
Apply for a grant in Community Safety, Health & Wellbeing, Education or the Environment projects.
Aurizon, Australia's largest rail freight operator, today announced the opening of the second round of its Community Giving Fund (CGF) for 2022, and the extension of funding to South Australia and the Northern Territory.
The Aurizon Community giving Fund provides much-needed financial assistance to community organisations and is part of Aurizon's ongoing commitment to supporting and engaging with the communities in which our people live and work.
The funding supports charitable not-for profit organisations that are contributing to Community Safety, Health & Wellbeing, Education and the Environment, with grants of up to $20,000 available.
Andrew Harding, Managing Director and CEO said Aurizon was extending funding grants to South Australia and the Northern Territory following the recent acquisition of the One Rail Australia business, including the Tarcoola to Darwin railway.
"I am delighted to be now operating in South Australia and the Northern Territory and with this, Aurizon will be supporting the local communities where our teams live and work," he said.
"Over the past 11 years, we have helped a diverse range of organisations in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia deliver projects that make our local communities better places to live in. We are very excited at the prospect of now being able to contribute to a range of new communities," he added.
"A great example of what this funding can do is the grant we provided in June this year to The Shepherd Centre for Deaf Children in Wollongong, New South Wales.
"They will use the funding to assist with the purchase of two shade awnings, creating a sheltered outdoor space where children, families and therapists can engage freely and stay safe from the sun.
"Having this outdoor space will allow the clinicians to engage with the children mask-free, where they will benefit from the extra information gained in reading lips and facial expressions, assisting with their overall communications and interest in therapy.
"We encourage all charity or community groups seeking financial support for projects, located across our operations to apply," he added.

Background
Aurizon's Community Giving Fund distributes funds bi-annually and provides grants of up to $20,000. More than 500 charities and not-for-profit groups across Australia have received grants since the Fund was established in 2011.
Applications for the latest round of Aurizon's Community Giving Fund are open until 5.00pm AEDT Friday 21 October 2022.
